The COMPET-N vendetta :: (8th January, 2003)
This is the moment which took some time to happen but finally it's here: Alien Vendetta is now part of COMPET-N as a PWAD for everyone to play on. Many thanks to Anders, Mutator, Swedish Fish, Fen Boi, myk, Vincent and everyone else involved for making the new version a reality. Now it's time for the players to do their share and fill up those almost empty tables. Also thanks to Anders for packing up those older demos which work on the new version as well, hence there are some AV demos already on our FTP, and you can find the AV table here.

The first contest of our eight leg "Trophy" has ended. The results and all the demos are here.

As always with the first update of the calendar year, here's a recap of what happened last year:

  • January: The Helltrack contest endeth, with Adam Williamson taking the win. Xit Vono recorded the first demo of the year. Drew "stx-Vile" DeVore took all the DOOM2 NM100S movies. Xit Vono recorded some hard Tysons.
  • February: COMPET-N's DOOM Academy Awards 2001 was announced and the nominations began. Meanwhile, Jan "Doomgeek" Vida became the 5th D2S. Drew "stx-Vile" DeVore recorded the first full Plutonia and TNT movies. Anders Johnsen returned with a stunning E1M3 NM.
  • March: The nominees for the awards were announced early in the month, and the winners three weeks later. Ian Sabourin became the 6th D2S, while both Vincent and Henning improved their times. Marijo "Sedlo" Sedlic recorded an amazing speedrun for MAP03. Drew "stx-Vile" DeVore ran through Memento Mori. Xit Vono improved two ultra-hard Tysons. Laura "BahdKo" Herrmann, Laszlo Vecsei, Chris Laverdure and Scratchy recorded the shortest demo ever at COMPET-N.
  • April: Radek Pecka killed everything in DOOM2 in less than two hours. Drew "stx-Vile" DeVore recorded the first ever proper PL08 NM.
  • May: Marijo "Sedlo" Sedlic made all jaws drop with a really short run. He did another one as well. Drew "stx-Vile" DeVore filled the last gap in the Plutonia NM table. Xit Vono recorded a Classic Episode movie.
  • June: Marijo "Sedlo" Sedlic ran the ledges one more time. Radek Pecka did some maxkills while Xit Vono did some Tysons.
  • July: Xit Vono also ran the ledges himself. Drew "stx-Vile" DeVore ran NM29 under two minutes as well as killing everyone in Ep1 under 20 minutes. Vincent Catalaa returned with NM goodness.
  • August: Radek Pecka became the 7th D2S. Xit Vono went TNT NightMare.
  • September: Drew "stx-Vile" DeVore did outstanding Ep4 speedruns. Radek Pecka did some more maxkills. Xit Vono ventured into Pacifist.
  • October: Drew "stx-Vile" DeVore did an excellent E1M7 speedrun. Radek Pecka also did. Marijo "Sedlo" Sedlic optimized MAP27 and PL01 while Xit Vono struggled through Go 2 It.
  • November: Marijo "Sedlo" Sedlic optimized some more maps (here's more). Xit Vono saw a new route, Drew "stx-Vile" DeVore saw an old.
  • December: Drew "stx-Vile" DeVore ran DOOM2 blazing quick. Juho "ocelot" Ruohonen ran MAP02 in a similar manner, and teamed up with Kim Lundqvist for MAP07.
