Here we go with yet another classic WAD from Doom's heyday which you might never have heard of. This week's selection is Excalibur, an old Doom 1 WAD from 1995 by Stefan Maes. Excalibur was one of the first castle-themed WADs ever made, with all sorts of parapets and dungeons and dining halls and portcullises and whatever else castles have. It was also one of Doomgate's best-Doom-level selections and was included on the Master Levels CD as part of the Maximum Doom collection. It still holds up quite well after 5+ years, so check it out. Remember that if you only own Doom 2, you can use the SMMU port to automatically convert Excalibur over to the Doom 2 format and play it anyway.

That level was in a special TC Called "Dungeon DOOM". If you
don't believe me, then go and download Dungeon DOOM Right

Well, I wouldn't be very proud of having had any of my levels on the Maximum part of that CD! A lot of the levels in that directory were very, very bad and were of quite a low quality. But then again; having a level on a cd published by id.......
There was a quantum leap in quality when compared to the Master levels! They were really excellent, and a lot of them still is actually.
