Today's classic WAD is slightly more recent then some we've done in the past: Hoover Dam by Michael Reed. There is not much to say about this WAD other than it's a great one, especially for having been released in 1995. As the text file says:
The monsters have taken over one of our most prized national landmarks.
The Hoover Dam has been infested with hell-spawn and it's your job to clean
house! Battle your way up and down canyon ledges and caves in this very
large, very detailed level. You'll want to stop and enjoy the view as you
look up at the majestic Hoover Dam. Just don't stand still too long or
you'll be toast! Your final objective is to get to the top of the dam and
stop the baddies before they blow it up. Are you up to the task?
Playing through it I swore it had to be a Boom level because I couldn't understand how the author could have created such a convincing river/canyon/dam without an overflow. Try it, you'll like it. It's for Doom 2 BTW.

One of the very first maps i dl'ed and played. It's amazing, just amazing!
What should i get? Quake 3, Solider of Fortune? Unreal Tournament?. Arhhhh heck, ill just go get DooM2!

Well, I played Hoover with Doom95, and a VPO actually occured. Why, I don't know, but it did. Here's a pic showing it:

And just like anyone else, this also was one of the very first pwads I downloaded and played. It was from a PC at school.... It's a great level, with an amazing gameplay!

This was one of the first levels I downloaded from the Internet.
Itīs good.
In my day we played Doom without 3D-floors and WE LIKED IT!

This has got to be one of the very first wads I have ever played. I d/l'ed all of mike reed's other levels (not mike reid)and i STIll play them in co-op and sometimes by myself. Truly a great author
