The Old Stuff Chronicles - Linguica - Saturday Jan 20 21:37:24 2001

This week's pick, according to Doomgate, "look so much like the original episode 1 that you'd swear that former id designer John Romero designed them himself." Called Fava Beans and created by Sean Birkel, this Doom 1 episode from 1995 was considered one of the first really good episode replacements ever made for the Doom games. If you don't have Doom 1 installed make sure and get SMMU so you can play the episode with Doom 2.

"Fava Beans" is a Jerky Boys reference I think...

Probably because he had a touch more originality than the thousands of people who call their wads things like "base", "refinery", "outpost", etc, etc.

These levels are all original, Long and fun. Why the heck did he call it Fava Beans? Is he one of those retarded/autistic children who can accidentally create beautiful Doom levels but then is like: "Duuuuh, let call it fava beans! huck huck!!" then uploads them without being aware of what is going on?

life ain't worth living until you've found something worth dying for.

These are some really good levels, extremely nostalgic.

Some areas were directly taken/styled from original DOOM levels, but still well done.

Excellent pick Ling!

I donīt think I know Doomgate but I remember Gestalt 666īs page. He always had some great wads and you could be sure they rocked!
Those were the days. Whatīs Gestalt up to now anyway?

In my day we played Doom without 3D-floors and WE LIKED IT!
