Better late than never? :: (31st July, 2001)
I know it's been quite a while since the last update, actually this update should've been up 2 weeks earlier, but of course the FTP had to go down exactly when I wanted to update, *sigh*.

Anyway, here are the demos:

  • Henning Skogsto improved his DOOM2 NightMare 100% secrets run by some 7 minutes and got 62:44.
  • Radek Pecka did some very nice maxkills for both DOOM and DOOM2: MAP02 in 1:12, E1M4 in 1:43, E1M7 in 2:41. He also did a Tyson for E1M7 in 4:47, and another one for E3M6 in 4:07. Last but not least, he did a nice UV speedrun for MAP09 in 1:03.
  • Chris "Ryback" Ratcliff recorded some demos for DOOM: E4M6 Max in 3:38 and E3M6 -fast in 3:23.
  • Joe "DOOMMANN" Abene quickly responded to the challenge and reclaimed the E3M6 -fast record with 3:12.
  • Frank "ping" Lipsky recorded DOOM E1M8 NightMare in 1:03.
  • I recorded a couple of demos for Ultimate DOOM: E2M5 UV Speed in 0:27, E1M8 NightMare in 0:49 and E3M5 NM100S in 1:39.
  • Zvonimir "fx" Buzanic is back in action with a NM100S run for DOOM2: MAP06 in 1:07.

    Final DOOM demos:

  • Xit Vono recorded various runs for TNT: MAP16 NightMare in 3:34, MAP04 Pacifist in 4:56, and MAP31 NightMare secret exit in 0:38.
  • Adam Williamson recorded a few Pacifists for TNT: MAP11 in 0:22, and MAP23 in 0:32.
  • Selim "Bastard" Benabdelkhalek also recorded a Pacifist: MAP15 normal exit in 0:18.
  • Radek Pecka had a few demos for TNT as well: MAP01 UV -fast in 0:56, same map in Tyson in 0:58, and MAP03 Tyson in 11:13.
  • Doug "Opulent" Merrill recorded Plutonia MAP31 in UV -fast in 7:38.
  • Albert Valls (a regular player for contests) recorded his very first COMPET-N demo, beating Opulent's MAP31 UV -fast and getting a time of exactly 6:00.
  • I recorded a couple of TNT demos too: MAP15 Pacifist for secret exit in 0:20 and NightMares for MAP31 (normal exit in 0:30, secret exit in 0:34.

    There's a buttload of PWAD demos this time, let's start with Hell Revealed:

  • Doug "Opulent" Merrill sent us a couple of new demos: MAP21 UV Max in 8:09, MAP27 UV -fast in 9:41 and MAP21 UV -respawn in 4:08.
  • Albert Valls recorded MAP07 in UV -fast in 5:51.
  • Selim "Bastard" Benabdelkhalek recorded two speedruns: MAP02 in 1:42 and MAP08 in 0:48.

    Requiem demos:

  • A big bunch of stuff by Xit Vono: MAP02 Pacifist in 1:22, MAP10 Pacifist in 8:36, MAP20 Pacifist in 0:17, MAP03 UV Speed in 3:52, MAP02 NM100S in 1:08, MAP20 NM100S in 1:01, MAP20 Tyson in 2:54, MAP26 Tyson in 6:25, MAP03 NightMare in 7:19, MAP10 NightMare in 2:57, MAP20 NightMare in 0:25, MAP26 NightMare in 0:26, MAP30 NightMare in 1:24, MAP02 UV -fast in 2:20, MAP03 UV -fast in 11:01, MAP04 UV -fast in 10:59, MAP05 UV -fast in 21:04, MAP09 UV -fast in 10:32 and MAP10 UV -fast in 7:51.
  • Radek Pecka did an UV -fast for MAP02 in 1:23.
  • Cameron Prosser also sent a big load: MAP32 NightMare in 0:14, MAP02 Pacifist in 0:37, MAP20 Pacifist in 0:11, MAP32 UV Speed in 0:14 and MAP32 NM100S in 0:16.
  • I did a couple of demos as well: MAP26 NightMare in 0:07, MAP30 NightMare in 0:19, MAP20 UV Speed in 0:10, MAP02 NM100S in 0:44, MAP26 NM100S in 0:09 and MAP20 NightMare in 0:18 (which was beaten by Cameron Prosser's 0:14.

    Memento Mori demos:

  • Oyvind Stenhaug did a few nice UV speedruns: MAP08 in 0:24, MAP10 in 0:26 and MAP15 secret exit in 2:28.
  • New player Richie Agnew did MAP23 UV Max in 8:19.
  • Chris "Ryback" Ratcliff did a few demos: MAP15 UV -fast in 14:18, MAP23 UV Max in 7:11, MAP32 UV Max in 8:22 and MAP32 UV -fast in 9:10.
  • Xit Vono did a Tyson for MAP02 in 12:04.

    Memento Mori 2:

  • There is only one demo, by me, that's MAP32 UV Speed in 0:28.

    Classic Episode:

  • Chris "Ryback" Ratcliff sent in some runs: E2M4 UV Max in 6:46, E2M5 UV Max in 5:52, E2M7 UV Max in 4:39, E2M1 UV -fast in 2:33, E2M3 UV -fast in 8:21 and E2M4 UV -fast in 8:21.
  • Anthony Soto is back in action with an UV Max for E2M9 in 6:48.

    Now on to the cooperative stuff:

  • All coop demos in this update are by Vincent Catalaa and Selim "Bastard" Benabdelkhalek. Here is the Ultimate DOOM batch: UV speeds for E3M7 and E4M7, NM speeds for E1M1, E4M1, E4M7 and E4M8, NM100S' for E1M1, E1M2, E1M4, E3M6 and E4M7, Pacifists for E1M1 and E1M4. DOOM2 batch: UV speeds for MAP04, MAP05, MAP08, MAP11, MAP13, MAP15, MAP19, MAP20, MAP22, MAP26, MAP28 and MAP31, NM speeds for MAP04, MAP05, MAP08, MAP28 and NM100S for MAP01 in MAP01. They also did an UV run for maps 1-10 in 6:16.

    Apart from the new demos, I did some maintenance with the database and the demo archive on the FTP, mainly synchronizing the two. Every link in the database should now work (if not, mail me with the details). If you're interested what exactly was changed, check out the log here. There will be another maintenance update soon, that one fixing mistimed single and cooperative movies (because there are a lot).
