I'm very pleased with this update. For two reasons. Kaiser has finally released Doom 64: The Outcast Levels AND the Doom 64 TC Source!
Get on over to the
Doom 64 TC Download Page to get it!
Rob
Dear Respected Doom Depot and Doom 64 TC Supporters:
Long time no see. A lot has changed in my life. I would've updated sooner, but haven't for a number of reasons. First of all, after
the TC was complete, there isn't much new to update the Depot with. Second, I kept moving, and until recently, my upload account was
dependant on my ip address, which kept changing. So it didn't seem to be worth the effort. And last, I've been quite busy lately with
work, managing a restaurant and all. But things are finally starting to come together, and I feel like I can breathe again. My life is
only going to get much better, and thus, I'll be online a lot more. Just give me a little more time, those who would like to chat with
me. :P
I also apologize for not replying to much emails. My email has been flooded with spam, but thanks to my ISP's new spam blocker, it's
much more managable. And believe me, when you're busy, sifting through emails and replying to every last one is the last thing on my
mind. I read as much as I could through. I apologize if this update doesn't answer your questions, but if it doesn't feel free to email
me. Again, I'm very sorry, I feel so bad for being out of the whole internet chat and email thing for so long. I love the emails, but you
know how life gets.
I would like to thank everyone who has come to the Doom Depot or downloaded the TC. I, as well as those involved in the Doom 64 TC, really
appereciate it. Each and every person who has supported this site and project has made it very popular, and the load on the server got to
a point that the Doom Depot is on it's own server. That shows that the Doom Depot is very popular. It feels really good. And though I don't
work on this site that much anymore, enjoy it to its fullest. I spent lots of time and effort on the site and the music, and the whole Doom
Depot Team slaved away at that TC for months for all the people. So you better enjoy it! ;)
And a special thank you to the Doom Depot Team. You all have helped make my dream of recreating the Doom 64 experience on the PC a reality. In
fact, the stuff you all did makes what I did for the TC pointless. Everyone's work together made people all over the internet enjoy this TC. Pat
yourselves on the back if you haven't already. To everyone else who has conrtibuted over the years, whether your stuff is still here or not, from
the bottom of my heart, thank you. Without your help, the Doom Depot wouldn't be as full of classic Dooming goodness.
Ok, moving along. You're probably wondering what the heck I've been working on, if not Doom. Well, I have played Doom 3 a lot, but since
I'm a console gamer at heart, I'm humbly awaiting the XBox version of Doom 3 in less than a month. I've worked a bit on the
Castlevania Treasury, as well as wrote a few FAQs, that are on GameFAQs. There's a
Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake FAQ, as well as a text version of the Super Castlevania 4 Walkthrough. I'm currently working on a text version
of the Dracula X: Rondo of Blood Walkthrough, and an all encompassing Earthworm Jim FAQ. I've converted the Official Prince of Persia 1
& 2 Strategy Guide into HTML, which can be located at
Prince of Persia Legacy.
I've ripped more music, but that's just about all. After working on the Doom 64 TC with the Doom Depot Team, everything else seems like small
beans though. ;)
Now, for the updates. Which I'll show you in Q&A form, according to the emails I've been getting.
1) ARGH! I can't download the PC Music Wad for Doom 2!
I tried fixing this link many times in the past. I'm pretty damn sure that it's working now. I'm sorry for all the trouble, but I guess
it's one of those web page quirks. Like I said, I completely renamed the file and the link accordingly, so there shouldn't be a reason
why it's not working now. If it's not, then here's a link straight to the
folder,
just right click on the file and save it.
2) ARGH! I can't get the Doom 64 TC or the wads working!
Ok, this is a complicated answer. First of all, as stated before, the Doom 64 TC doesn't run with Doomsday. It has it's own executable
and all. It won't work with any version of Doomsday properly. Also, make sure you throw your doom2.wad into the Absolution\Bin\Data\doom64\Auto
directory. The music wad goes the same place. And no, I can't supply you with the doom2.wad.
Running music wads, levels, and everything else into ZDoom, or Legacy, or any source port is going to require you to load it up with the -file
extension, either in a DOS window, Run under the Start Menu, or in a batch file. If, say, you're using ZDoom, you would type in "zdoom -file
whateverthewadiscalled.wad" also, you might have to add "-iwad doom2.wad" if it's Doom 2 or "-iwad doom.wad" if it's Doom 1 or Ultimate Doom. Past that,
check the documentation of the source port.
About the Doom 64 TC crashing, graphical errors, or anything else technical, I have absolutely NO idea. The Doom 64 TC has always worked for me, on many
different computers. I'm totally clueless as to why it doesn't work for you. Your best bet is to go to the
Doomworld
Forums or the
New Doom Forums and ask there. They'll be much more help than I would be. I'm not that
much of a technical guy.
3) ARGH! Why isn't Hectic in the Doom 64 TC?
It's there. It was added in one of the many updates before final release. I just didn't think it was important enough to add a screenshot and
change the info page. Sorry. All changes reflecting Hectic, the Museum level, or the bonus level, Death Labs, has been done.
4) ARGH! What's the deal with Dark Nexus?
It's gone. Finito. The project got scrapped. I wasn't involved in it at all, so I have no clue why. I did hear rumors that the levels may
surface some day, but that's it. I'm sad to see the project go, but everyone who worked on it, thanks for the effort.
5) ARGH! Where's the DSV Outworld?
Sad to say that's gone too. It was deleted for some reason. I hope Kaiser/Samuel Villareal gets it back online someday. If not, his stuff
is always welcome here.
On a side note, Kaiser's working on Doom 64 TC: The Outcast Levels. It has 9 new levels, 3 new enemies, and new powerups. There was info
on the DSV Outworld, which of course, is gone. Again, it's welcome here. Now that I'm able and comfortable with updating the Depot, stay
tuned for more info on the project.
6) ARGH! I'm stuck on the Doom 64 TC! HELP!!!
Thankfully, someone made my life easier. There's a Doom 64 TC Guide at
http://numerometria.com/d64tc.htm,
and is also in text form on GameFAQs under Doom 64 for the N64 as well. The link's on the sidebar as well. If the site goes down, I'll gladly host it
here instead. Thank you Psyren!
7) ARGH! Why no Doom 3 music?
First of all, anyone with WinRAR and Doom 3 installed can just extract the OGG files from the .pk4 files. Second, I'd like to keep the
Doom Depot classic Doom only. I mean, this IS doom2.net, not doom3.net. Maybe if XBox Doom 3 has different music, I'll record and put it
up. Maybe.
8) ARGH! Why did the Doom Depot's address change?
Got me, but if you're reading this, you've undoubtably found the alternate address. The address should be http://doomdepot.doom2.net/. If it gets
fixed it get's fixed, if it doesn't it doesn't. But the Doom Depot will always be found at this current address.
If you're commenting about http://www.doom2.net/~elbryan/ not working, well, when the Doom Depot needed a whole new server, and thus, it's now
http://www.doom2.net/~doomdepot/.
Well, that's it. There's your update. Again, thanks to everyone for supporting the Depot and coming here over the years.

 | About This Site | |
Hey, I'm Rob, aka Elbryan42. Back in late winter/early spring of 2001, I finally finished my greatest triumph. I ripped the music
tracks from PSX Doom perfectly. Problem was, I had no place to put them. I knew little about FTP, and absolutely hated the
idea of html. I was basically living on the
Doomworld Forums at the time.
Someone there named Esco, who many may know as the one who has the one who posts in ghetto/gangsta. Anyways, about
that time, he ripped the sounds from Doom 64, and with a wave of generosity, sent them out thru email, on a 56K modem.
I thought to myself, "Suck it up, make your own freaking ftp." Genorosity is contagous. :)
So I made an FTP, starting with only my music and Esco's sounds. Since then, many, many people have contributed (and are
mentioned throughout the site!), and have helped to push the FTP over 1.5 gigs! Ok, that may not sound like much, but
keep in mind that Doom is a very old game, and stuff for it isn't very big. This site is now not only a Doom site, but the home of the
Doom Depot Team (DDT for short) that is working on a Doom 64 Total Conversion.
From the very beginning, I have decided to only put up stuff you can't find in stores. In other words, if you can buy it,
you won't find it here. No warez and no mp3s of albums (just home-brewed rips from games!), and no movies.
I'm trying to not cheese people off, plus piracy is dead wrong. People deserve to be thanked for what they do. Buy your cds, movies and games!
In fall of 2001 (Sept-Oct) I decided to once again get learning and make a website. It started off being very
archaic, to what you see now. Version 2 of my site was released on January 23, 2002. Version 3 on March 19, 2002.
On December 19, 2002, version 4 was released. On July 1, 200, both version 5 and the Doom 64 TC was released.
If there is something on here that you have the rights to and you don't want distributed, just let me know. I'll gladly
take whatever it is down. I made this website to be nice, not to cheese people off.
Enjoy the site! There's something here for everyone!
